The Nongstoin Town Committee was established some time in 1984 under
the approval of the KHADC, Shillong on adhoc basis. The members of the
Nongstoin Town Committee were practically selected by the Town Committee
meeting from amongst the Sordars/Headmen/Secretaries/Prominent citizens
of the town area, whereas the Local MLA an MDC are ex-officio nominated
members. The selected members are subject to the approval of the of
the Executive Committee, KHADC, Shillong for term of 3 (three) years.
The Syiem of Nongstoin and the Extra Assistant Commissioner (Senior)
are ex-officio vice chairman and Secretary respectively.
